What a pallet of tools actually sells for

By the BStalker team. Figures measured .
Between 12 June and 10 September 2026, BStalker tracked 4,455 tool lots to their close across the liquidation marketplaces it covers. This post is what they closed at. Every figure is computed from that archive on 10 September 2026, and every figure carries its denominator.
The short answer: the median multi-unit tool lot, the pallet-shaped kind, closed at a $300 final bid on a median of 53 units, or $4.90 per unit. The longer answer is that "a pallet of tools" is two different markets sharing one search term, and they price nothing alike.
The two markets inside the tools category
Split the 4,455 closed tool lots by shape and two populations fall out. One is single-item auctions, the drill or the saw sold on its own, which local auction houses run by the thousand. The other is multi-unit lots: pallets, gaylords and truckloads of mixed tools. Both turn up for the same searches, and only one of them is the pallet a reseller means.
| Lot shape | Closed lots | Median final bid | Median units | Median per unit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Multi-unit (2 or more units) | 2,088 | $300 | 53 | $4.90 |
| Single-item | 2,366 | $11 | 1 | $11 |
Medians over the 90 days ending 10 September 2026. For the multi-unit half, the middle 50% closed between $125 and $600 per lot, and between $2.21 and $9.90 per unit.
What the pallet-shaped half looks like
The median multi-unit tool lot held 53 units. The mean is 432, which says less about a typical pallet and more about the truckload listings dragging it upward; the median is the honest center here. At the median per-unit figure of $4.90, the middle of this market is small hand tools and accessories, not rows of miter saws.
These are hammer prices. The buyer premium, tax and freight arrive on top, and freight on a heavy pallet can rival the bid itself: what 23,105 real freight quotes show is the measured version of that half of the bill. The all-in arithmetic, component by component, is in liquidation pallet costs explained.
Where the tool pallets actually sell
Closed multi-unit tool lots by marketplace, same 90-day window. Liquidation.com and B-Stock together account for 1,864 of the 2,088 lots, 89% of the multi-unit tool supply we tracked:
| Marketplace | Closed multi-unit tool lots |
|---|---|
| Liquidation.com | 1,054 |
| B-Stock | 810 |
| QuickBidz | 107 |
| Musick | 45 |
| DirectLiquidation | 40 |
| GovDeals | 24 |
| 888 Lots | 7 |
| BlueLots | 1 |
| Via Trading | 0 |
888 Lots, DirectLiquidation and Via Trading are fixed-price storefronts: their listings carry no auction end date, so a "close" there is the listing coming down at its asking price, not a bid-winning moment.

Tools against the other categories
For context, the same measurement run across every category in the archive, all lot shapes mixed. The tools row reads $80 per median lot here precisely because the single-item half is folded back in; the pallet-only median is the $300 above.
| Category | Closed lots | Median per unit | Median final bid per lot |
|---|---|---|---|
| Home Goods | 25,136 | $4.11 | $75 |
| Electronics | 18,016 | $41.09 | $500 |
| Furniture | 10,745 | $17.86 | $250 |
| Apparel | 10,513 | $4.58 | $201 |
| Appliances | 6,724 | $11.23 | $500 |
| Tools | 4,455 | $7.00 | $80 |

What these figures are, and what they are not
- "Final bid" is the bid at our last scan before the lot left the feed. It can be a no-bid asking price, and it is never a verified sale price.
- Every figure is bid only. Buyer premium, tax and freight come on top, and none of them is in these medians.
- One lot counts once. The archive keeps several snapshots of a long-running listing; these medians are computed over one canonical record per lot, the last one.
- The window is 12 June to 10 September 2026. A different 90 days prices a different market.

FAQ
What does a pallet of tools sell for at auction?
In BStalker’s archive, the 2,088 multi-unit tool lots that closed in the 90 days to 10 September 2026 went for a median final bid of $300, with the middle half between $125 and $600. The median lot held 53 units, putting the median per-unit price at $4.90. These are hammer prices before buyer premium and freight, not verified sale proceeds.
How many items are in a tool pallet?
The median multi-unit tool lot in the same 90-day window held 53 units. The mean, 432, is pulled upward by truckload listings, so read the unit count on each listing’s manifest rather than budgeting from either average.
Are these actual sale prices?
No. They are the last bid, or asking price, observed before each listing closed or came down, deduplicated to one record per lot. Read them as closing-market prices: what the market last showed, not what a buyer’s card was charged.
